Officer Bios
Norm Besheer
Norm is a true native son of the greater Kansas City area, born in Independence Missouri, and graduate of Central High School.
He and wife Patricia A. (Gunter) Besheer have been married since June 25, 1949, and live in the Foxcroft area of south Kansas City. They are members of Broadway United Methodist Church. Norm has served as Chairman of Trustees, Chairman of Stewardship & Finance, and Chairman of Memorials and enjoys singing in its chancel choir.
Serving in the U.S. Marine Corps 1946–1948, Norm received a direct commission in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve in 1968 and retired as a Major in 1982.
He is licensed to practice law and member of The Missouri Bar, having received his Juris Doctor from UMKC in 1955. (Note: while in law school, he was clerk to Honorable Kimbrough Stone, U.S. Circuit Judge, 8th Circuit.). He is also admitted to the Pennsylvania Bar. Norm has served as counsel and in officer positions for several area business firms, and is currently Chairman of Board & C.E.O., Gunter Pest Management, Inc. (formerly Gunter Exterminating Co.). He is a member of the UMKC Alumni Association and a former Vice President & board member of the U.M.K.C. Law Alumni Association, and founding member of the Law Foundation of the UMKC School of Law.
Norm's honors, fraternal and societal memberships are extensive and reflect the quality and character of his achievements. Norm recently served as President of Friend of Sacred Structures (F.O.S.S.) serving the greater Kansas City area and served on the planning committee for the 2007 Sesqui-centennial anniversary event for Union Cemetery. Within the Native Sons and Daughters, Norm has served on our Board as a director and most recently as Historian and Secretary in 2009, and is actively engaged in the Bylaws and Communications Committees. His commitment to the preservation of Kansas City's heritage is found in the breadth and depth of his involvement in our community.
As 2nd Vice-President, Norm will continue in the planning of the 2009 Outstanding Kansas Citian event, to be held September 24.
