Jackson County Historical Society
The historical society holds a vast collection of documents dating from 1828 that tells the story of Jackson County. In addition, the site documents a comprehensive list of historically related web content for Jackson County.
Kansas City Museum
Displaying regional Kansas City historical exhibits from Native American through the Civil War era in Corinthian Hall. The museum occupies the 50 room Beaux Arts style mansion and carriage house built by lumber baron, R.A. Long in 1910.
Kansas City Public Library
The library's Special Collections Department houses, collects, provides and preserves numerous types of resources pertaining to the history of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area, genealogy, the Civil War and Western Americana.
Kessler Society
A Kansas City Parks & Recreation citizen supported organization named after the creator of George Kessler, creator of Kansas City's parks and boulevard system.
Lewis and Clark Heritage Trail Riverbend Chapter
The Riverbend Chapter supports the Lewis & Clark Trail Heritage Foundation at the local level through events, activities, programs, promotion, and protection of the Lewis & Clark National Historic Trail. In addition, the local chapter encourages local interest in the expedition and related historic sites.
Liberty Memorial Museum
The only public museum in the United States dedicated solely to the history of World War I. The museum was originally built by private donations from the people of Kansas City. It is now the official National Historic Landmark, and the nation's only official World War I memorial.
Mahaffie Stagecoach Stop & Farm
This site was built in 1865 and used as a stagecoach stop along the Santa Fe Trail. Twenty acres remain of the original 570-acre site. This is the last surviving stagecoach stop on the Santa Fe Trail.

National Agricultural Center & Hall of Fame
A 172-acre complex with the National Farmers Memorial, Agricultural Hall of Fame, Museum of Farming and Farm Town USA.
National Frontier Trails Museum
Located in downtown Independence, Missouri, it is devoted to the history of the overland trails.
Thomas Hart Benton State Historic Site
The home of nationally known painter Thomas Hart Benton. Untouched since his passing in 1975, the home includes the converted carriage house - his studio that still looks as he left it.

Westport Historical Society
Organization dedicated to the preservation of history related to the Westport area. The society's headquarters is the Harris-Kearney House, built in 1855 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
